A return to blogging.

Well-being, n. (wɛlˈbiːɪŋ)
the state of being healthy, happy, or prosperous; physical, psychological, or moral welfare.

Well, it may be quite a generic definition (thanks Oxford English Dictionary) but I guess it hits the nail on the head. The state of being comfortable, healthy, happy… content… but what does it mean on a more personal level – what does it mean to me? Or to you? It’s a question I’ve found myself asking quite a lot, usually coupled with a “yeah, and what am I doing about it?”

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to bring The Botanical Cat to life (let’s ignore the fact I went on an extended hiatus because I wasn’t completely invested in the process); I wanted a place to be able to share what I do, what helps, what doesn’t help, my journey and all those odd little thing along the way.

I know – for a fact – that writing (or blogging) helps to motivate me. I don’t know whether it’s that element of ‘getting it out there’ that means I’m more inclined to follow through with it, or whether it’s that I gain a lot from shared experiences. I’ve scoured the internet in those wee hours of the morning so many times, looking at TRUE accounts of people who are traipsing through life with the intent of finding out what makes them happy.

There just isn’t a simple answer. Well-being is so incredibly multidimensional that I think I’d be on my tenth novel before I could even begin to piece it all together. Some focus on the physical aspects, others on the mental side of things… I…. I want to find a balance. There's just so much to consider.

You need balance. Period. There is very little point investing all of your time in one element because if you can’t achieve a balance – you tip the scales. But then how do you reach true equilibrium? Goodness knows, but maybe that’s what I’ll try and find out…
